OERs: Opening, Demystifying, Finding and Using

June 2 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am PDT

This is part 2 of the series OERs: Open Education Resources.

As educators learn more about the power of Open Educational Resources (OER’s), and the value of modifying properly licensed materials, teachers need tools to quickly make changes and create new works for their learners.

During this session, participants will take a deeper dive into Creative Commons licenses and the 5 R’s that makeup OERs. Participants will learn the basics of creating OERs, be shown tools that help create and revise learning materials, and how to correctly attribute and license their own works as OER using free software that will assist in retaining and protecting intellectual rights. All will learn insights and knowledge in identifying true OERs as well as searching for resources in several vetted OER Repositories.

Prerequisites: Along with a valid email address that can be used during the session, participants should have a good foundational understanding of word processing and presentation software as well as being comfortable in basic computer skills and navigating the Internet.

An OTAN Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to those that have pre-registered and attend at least 75% of the scheduled time.
