OERs for Adult Education (series)

January 12, 2021 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm PST

There are many free, customizable, and editable resources for adult educators and their learners. By using Open Educational Resources (OER) in the classroom and online, teachers and agencies can save money, revise and refresh curriculum and give learners an opportunity to customize their learning. OER are “teaching, learning, and research resources that reside in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license that permits sharing, accessing, re-purposing—including for commercial purposes—and collaborating with others.” (NETP, 2010, pg. 56).

This webinar series will

in Part 1:  provide an introduction the basics of Open Educational Resources (OERs); what are they, how they can be found, and considerations for determining their quality for use in an adult education classroom,

in Part 2: the focus will be on using OER’s and giving proper attribution to the various works teachers may use after finding. Licensing both teacher and student works under an appropriate Creative Commons license will also be discussed and shown.

Prerequisites:

Participants should be comfortable with basic computer skills and navigating the Internet.
