Discover Canvas: An Introduction for Adult Educators

This two-hour virtual session is designed for educators and administrators who are new to Canvas and curious about how it can support teaching and learning in adult education. Participants will gain an understanding of the purpose and benefits of using Canvas, explore its most useful features, and see how the platform can enhance blended, hybrid, and fully online instruction.

The session will include:

A guided tour of Canvas and its unique features for instruction and engagement
Examples of how adult education programs across California are using Canvas for CTE, ABE/ASE, ESL, and more
Discussion of the “why” behind Canvas: how this flexible learning model supports student success, increases digital literacy, and helps smooth the transition to California Community Colleges
An overview of OTAN’s Canvas resources and professional development opportunities
Time for Q&A and reflection
